Ya-Ya's 60th birthday party was a surprise party at church. Kelsey, Gretchen and I spent the day decorating and getting ready for the big event. We had Johnny Carino's cater the event with yummy bow tie pasta, chicken parmesan, and lasagna. We invited family and friends to come up and celebrate that night with us.
I took pictures from way back to this year and covered the 60 with the pictures. Then, filled champagne flutes with candy and topped off with cupcakes!
Surprise Birthday Girl! She was genuinely surprised. She thought her and dad were going to a dinner and show at the hotel in downtown Frankfort. Dad told her they were having a special showing that night and he'd bought tickets for them. She was so surprised and impressed he'd actually planned an event for them all on his own. She didn't think we were going to all get together for her birthday until the next day. So, I asked her to stop at church and pick up a book for me to teach Sunday School on Sunday so when she walked in she was expecting to see Tonya with a set of Sunday School materials and instead found a house full of people all there for her!
Balloons are always a hit with kids at a party!
Rusty, Kelsey and I had a surprise birthday present for her. I made her sit on the couch and close her eyes because it was a big present and it had to be brought in unwrapped. So, here she is sitting on the couch waiting for us to tell her to open her eyes while her present "Granny" walked in. We'd had Granny fly in for a few weeks as a surprise. Krista and Marshall picked her up from the airport that night and brought her over. Granny was a bit later than expected to get to the party but better late than never. Everyone stuck around to see her get her present!
She has opened her eyes and still hasn't realized who is sitting down next to her.
Finally, she noticed. Think she was surprised?!
It was the sweetest moment!!
Kelsey got the camera and look what she caught....hmmm, daddy getting another cupcake!!
