SORRY for the gap between postings...

Okay, here is the long awaited update. I know it has been over a month. But what can I say, summers are busy. For those out there that think teachers do nothing but sit by the pool, let me tell you....we do a lot more. Things are busier in the summer than they are during the school year because we put everything off until the summer. Enough about that...

Okay, so since the last update, school ended, mom and dad bought a house in Frankfort, we've had Father's Day, and a few play dates for Kelsey.


Let's start with the new house. Mom and dad will be living a street behind us. Kelsey will be able to walk through our backyard and cross the street to get to their house. It's going to be wonderful!! We are all very excited and can't wait for them to move. So, the move in date is 7/8!! They have finally got their house on the market in Corbin and have showed it a few times. No takers yet, but it's only been listed for a week or two. We are very optimistic and they are asking a very good price for the house, so we are hoping that will draw in more interest. So, here is a picture of the new house. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a kitchen/den, dining room, sitting room, 2 car garage, and a nice size yard. And, the yard is FLAT with a few small shade trees. No more forest surrounding the house and a driveway that looks more like a skate ramp.


EJ is back home and has been helping mom and dad get the house ready. He returned toward the end of May. He plans on going back to work soon to save money for his move to California. So, if you've been following his blog...you might as well quit. He will probably not update it again. Mom and I are trying to convince him to start it back up once he gets to CA. But we'll see.


Okay, so Rusty has been painting here and there for some extra cash. When he isn't doing that then he's fishing and hanging out with us. He had a great Father's Day, or so I think so. I fixed him and Kels breakfast in bed. Kelsey got him an ipod and he has used it quite a bit lately. Thanks to Aaron Mayes for helping him set it up and giving him some music to listen to. Let's see, Kelsey and I have been pretty busy. We have been back and forth between here and Corbin trying to help mom and dad out as well. We also had a huge yard sale with the Vaught's. So, here are some misc. pics of Kelsey over the past month. Oh yea, she had her 18 mth check up in June. She is in the 95th percentile for height and 65th in weight. She is really tall and she is slimming down and losing the baby fat. She is a BIG climber, it has only gotten worse. She is becoming or wanting to become independent. She must feed herself and she has regular temper tantrums. I hope it is the terrible 2's early and not an indication that the 2's will be harder than this! She has also become a photographer over the last month. She runs around with the camera and you never know what she'll snap a photo of. Some have been scary. So, I'll also put a few of her first photos on here.

Now, we are going to be out of town for a few weeks on vacation. We are hitting Louisville, Atlanta, Orlando, and Albany. So, I will have lots of new pics to put up soon. So, check back. I'm hoping to have another update by the 1st part of next week.

Kelsey LOVES to play in the refrigerator!! Anytime she hears it open, she comes running. She takes everything out of the drawers on the door and plays with them on the kitchen floor. Many nights, this is the only way we get dinner cooked!!

Well, a few weeks ago Rusty and I were cleaning the fridge. It really needed it and of course Kelsey wanted to help. She helped us clear it and while we were wiping out drawers and cleaning the shelves she decided to get comfortable...

Happy Mother's Day!!

Well, let's start with yesteday...we took a dinner cruise to celebrate dad's 60th birthday, Mother's day, and an unexpected celebration...mom and dad found a house in Frankfort. We are very excited!! Well, Kelsey loved the cruise...and the dance floor. Here are just a few pictures. But, check out the Mommy and Me matching purses...is it not the cutest thing you've ever seen?!

Today was a great day. I woke up to my darling daughter and then had a great breakfast in bed with Kelsey. Please don't look too close at this picture, ugh!

After church we took a few pictures at Liberty Hall. The flowers were beautiful!

Rain, Rain go away....

Well, today was the 1st day we got to put Kelsey in her new raincoat and cute boots. She was stylin'!

Jump-o-lene

Well, Kelsey's Jump-o-lene arrived today!! We ordered it a few weeks ago when we were in search for some climbing toys. She seems to really like it. Here are a few pics and a few videos. Enjoy!!

A weekend of fun...

This weekend YaYa and Grampy came up to watch Kelsey while I scored portfolios and Rusty went fishing. They took her to the park on Saturday and they said it was packed...but Kelsey had a great time. She loves the swings and the slide. Here she is with YaYa.

On Sunday we all went to the Louisville Zoo. We took her to pet the goats. She wasn't really sure about them at first. But, we found a calm one that just laid there.

Kelsey also rode the carousel, but she wasn't a fan. Then, we put her on the horse that didn't move and she was fine with it....guess she's not wild about things that move. That's what happens when you ride with Rusty alot. :)

Well, after a long 2 hours at the zoo...Kelsey was worn out and didn't make it back to the car awake. She took a good nap!!

Kelsey also learned another new trick that may earn her money when she gets older....she is becoming quite the dog walker. She LOVES to walk Hershey on the leash. It was the cutest thing ever!! I've posted a picture and a short video...you've gotta check it out.

Well, as promised...another update and it didn't take me a month!! However, not much will be going on this week. So, it may take me 2 weeks before another posting. But, I'll do my very best.

BIG Update...

Let’s see…it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. A lot has gone on in the last few weeks and I have a ton of pictures to share. Let’s start with spring break. Kelsey and I spent some time with my parents in Corbin. It was the 1st time Kelsey got to spend quality time with Grampy since his surgery. One day we went to the Corbin park. It was really nice.

Kelsey LOVES Hershey and gave her lots of love. She sure misses her.

Then, Rusty joined us in Corbin and we spent part of our spring break in Gatlinburg with the Beardsley family. We shared a cabin in Pigeon Forge where the kids could run around and the grown-ups could relax. Kelsey loved the pool table. She carried the pool sticks around and tried to hit the balls. She also loved to sit on the table and roll the balls in the pockets.

We took a day and visited Ripley’s Aquarium in downtown Gatlinburg. She really liked the fish and even touched a horseshoe crab. Then, she stuck her hands in her mouth….ah!! That was not expected and I freaked out. I guess it didn’t bother her too much. Here are a few pics from the aquarium.

One night we went to the Black Bear Jamboree. It was pretty good. The food was delicious! Kelsey really enjoyed the singing and the mechanical bears. She clapped after they sang and was mesmerized by the bears.

After returning home we had a day to get unpacked and the house cleaned up before Easter and our open house. We had Kelsey’s Easter pictures taken in March so we could get out our Easter cards. Here are a few of those pics.

Kelsey seemed to understand the concept of the egg hunt. Well, part of it anyway. She knew to pick them up and put them in her basket, but she didn’t get the idea that they were hidden in the yard and she had to find them….but I think she did a really good job for her age.

Then, that evening we had an open house for our family and friends. The open house was to celebrate the finalization of Kelsey’s adoption. Here are a few pictures of Kelsey in her finalization outfit. These were taken the same time we had her Easter pictures taken.

On the next morning, Monday, we went to court and our adoption was finalized. It was pretty simple and painless. I’m very glad it is over and she is OFFICIALLY ours. Here is a picture with Judge Rhorer. Now I have to complete a 7 page document to apply for Kelsey’s citizenship….ah. It never ends, even when you think it is over.

Okay, if you've made it this far then you are completely caught up on the Willhoite Family. And, Uncle Bill and EJ will get off my back about updating the blog! :) There probably won't be another update for a week or so. Not much is going on in the next few weeks. But, I'll try to post some new pics. It amazes me how much Kelsey has already changed over the last few months.
